Dreamland has cancelled a drum and bass event suddenly following a medical incident.
The Margate Drum & Bass Festival was due to run until 10.30pm but people were asked to leave at around 5.40pm.
It is understood that a medical emergency and the heat forced organisers to make the decision, while some at the venue were told it was due to ‘the heat, people drinking, the drugs: we don’t have enough medical staff’.
There’s now a heavy police presence, as officers are also enforcing a dispersal order in the Thanet.
At just before 8pm, Kent Police confirmed they were aware of a medical incident at the venue and had sent additional patrols to help make sure people were able to leave safely.
One person at the venue said: "Mozey came on and said everyone has to go, the venue is closing and you all need to leave now. We have a medical emergency.
"There were a few angry people but most were pretty calm about it. I think they were just angry because we don't know what's going on.
"Lots of security arrived after to help get everyone out, I think they've dealt with it as well as they can."
The venue upped its measures to protect gig-goers following the tragic death of a young woman last year, including a more stringent drugs policy and checks, no under 18s at such events, further training for staff - including age verification - and higher numbers of paramedics for high-risk events, as well as a no re-entry policy.
The event had taken over the park, with the venue posting this morning to let people know of a change to the usual timings.
It said: “This weekend our opening times are a little different. Today it's a Park Takeover as Margate Drum & Bass Festival headlines our Scenic Stage for an all-day event.
"We're back on Sunday with rides, amusements, virtual reality and roller disco."
They have since posted on Facebook to say: “Sorry guys, it was just too hot today so we had to close early.
“Get home safely.”
