A cocaine user threatened to kill his ex and carved her initials into her front door when she refused to let him into her home.
Kairon Morgan also shouted abuse at the woman when he turned up at her address in Sheerness in February.
When the 31-year-old was later arrested and searched, a small quantity of cocaine was found on him.
Morgan, of Wood Street, Sheerness, admitted possession of the class A drug but initially denied criminal damage, and a trial was due to be held in March.
However, he changed his plea to guilty for that too, after other charges in relation to the matter were dropped.
In the meantime, he was granted bail with a tagged curfew and returned to Medway Magistrates’ Court last Thursday (May 22) to hear his fate.
Gareth Johnson, prosecuting, said: “This incident happened on Sunday, February 9, and it was about 6.30am.
“The victim could hear banging on her door. He was shouting abusive words up at her and it sounded like something was being carved on the door.
“He also said ‘I’m going to kill you, you skank,’.
“Later, she went down to look at the door and it had been engraved with her initials.
“He has numerous previous convictions, including four for criminal damage, and we are applying for a restraining order to stay away from her.
“He’s been in custody over this matter and then had a tag for some considerable time.”
Robert Weston, defending, told magistrates the pre-sentence report they had asked for had not been done as there had been a breakdown in communication between Morgan and probation officers.
He added: “They couldn’t get him on the number given.
“He was remanded over this case on February 11 and spent six weeks on remand.
“A trial was listed for March, and other matters (concerning this incident) were withdrawn. He admitted the criminal damage. He had already admitted the cocaine.
“Yes, he has previous convictions, but he’s spent six weeks on remand and a further eight weeks on a tagged curfew, which has been a significant restriction on his liberty.
“I’d ask you to take into account these circumstances and perhaps punish him by way of a financial penalty.”
Magistrates agreed and fined Morgan £162 for the criminal damage offence and £108 for being in possession of a class A drug.
However, they told him they would deem the fines paid in lieu of time served, but he was ordered to pay a victim surcharge and court costs amounting to £193.
The bench also ordered the cocaine to be destroyed and issued a three-year restraining order banning Morgan from going near the woman or her home.
